History in Brief
Shri Ramajeyam Gurujiyo Namaha
Founder
Shrimaan (Moorkonda) M.K. Raghavan was a noble philanthropist, compassionate humanitarian, and a dedicated teacher who served at the Tamil Nadu Government Single Teacher School in the Dindigul region. Inspired by the values of selfless service and social upliftment, he founded this organisation in the year 1980 with a vision to bring hope and dignity to the underprivileged sections of society.
Vision and Mission
The Trust was established with the noble objectives of:
- Eradicating illiteracy through educational support
- Extending care and assistance to poor and elderly people
- Encouraging deserving students to pursue education with confidence
Humble Beginning
The journey began in 1980 as a small but meaningful initiative by Shrimaan M.K. Raghavan to provide free books, notebooks, and scholarships to poor and deserving students. What started as a modest act of kindness soon grew into a remarkable movement of service and compassion.
From 1980 to 1998, Shrimaan M.K. Raghavan rendered tireless and dedicated service to society. His noble mission was strongly supported by his life partner, Smt. Mahalakshmi, whose encouragement and cooperation played a vital role in the steady growth of the organisation.
Growth Through Generations
The founder's sons, Secretary Shri M.K.R. Ramkumar and Shri M.K.R. Vishnukumar, carried forward the legacy of service with unwavering commitment, competently supported by the enthusiastic and service-minded Shri T.S. Krishnan.
The organisation flourished under the dynamic leadership of President Shrimaan T.C. Vijayan, whose dedicated efforts strengthened its activities and outreach.
Sriman Nadana Gopala Nayagi Swamigal Kalvi Seva Sangam formally established the new trust — Nayagi Kalvi Seva Trust — marking a significant milestone in institutionalising its charitable and educational activities for long-term social impact.
The eminent "Kalaimamani" Dr. D.K. Subramanian assumed leadership as President. Along with him, Shrimaan "Meerakunj" K.S. Damothran joined hands in expanding the organisation's humanitarian services. Their visionary guidance and tireless enthusiasm elevated the Trust to greater heights. Secretary Shri M.K.R. Ramkumar and Treasurer Shri V.R. Sekar continue to serve with the same unwavering dedication, lending their experience and commitment to the Trust's ongoing mission — together with the support of our Executive Committee members.
The Trust has been led by President Shrimaan E.R. Kumaresan and Managing Trustee Shrimaan K.L. Viswanathan. With exceptional leadership qualities, organisational skills, and a deep commitment to service, they continue to guide the Trust towards new milestones of excellence and humanitarian achievement. Their ability to build dedicated teams and inspire active participation has brought the organisation to a distinguished and respected position in society. Secretary Shri M.K.R. Ramkumar and Treasurer Shri V.R. Sekar continue to serve with the same unwavering dedication, lending their experience and commitment to the Trust's ongoing mission — together with the support of our Executive Committee members.
Major Charitable Activities
Every year, the Trust conducts two major service programmes benefiting thousands of underprivileged people.
